Mac Cream Colour Base in Pearl

Hey Dolls!

Highlighting is something I've only recently started loving! Having oily skin I always tried staying away from anything that pronounced shine! However since a year or so I have been actually liking how highlighting can give so much dimension to the face by bringing to notice hardly noticeable features and also adding a glow to the face!

I realised the only cream highlighter I had was the ELF's studio shimmer palette and it was a lil too heavy for the warmer seasons so I decided to get myself this Mac cream color base in Pearl.

Pearl is a cream base that has a pearly finish. As the name suggests, it is an off-white color with a grey-silver sheen. It is described as a multi-purpose makeup base.
Though it gives an extra zing to eye shadows by giving them a pearly effect, I prefer not using it under eye shadows as it tends to crease due to its creamy texture. However it is great for highlighting the cheekbones, brow bones and down the bridge of the nose. I generally prefer powder highlighter for my nose as I have a pretty oily T-zone area.
I mostly use this one on my cheekbones right above the blush and I love how glowy it makes my skin look! Though its a cream based formula, its not too heavy and quite natural looking. It is shimmerless and gives a lovely sheen.

The staying power however is not that great as it is almost invisible on me after 2-3 hours! I feel this highlighter is best when applied with fingers as it was sort of difficult to blend it in with a brush. In fact I use my fingers for most highlighters including powder ones.

Here's a Swatch:

What is your HG highlighter??

  1. I have oily skin too and in recent months I kinda stopped highlighting because there is nothing worse than the moment when I realize the shine on my nose matches the shine on my cheeks :(
But I really like powder highlight, theBalm makes a great one!

    1. You could also use a lighter shade of concealer for highlighting instead of highlighters.

  6. I also have combination/oily skin so I don't use a HG highlighter.

    1. You could try using a lighter shade of concealer or foundation for the center of the face as highlighter without the sheen!
